Bridal Shops start charging for appointments.

There seems to be a new trend hitting High Street Bridal Shops...........charging brides for trying on their wedding dresses.

One argument put forward to justify this is the increase in online retailers and the number of brides who want or nowadays need, to make a saving by using them. Infact in one article we read the author believed that the introduction of an appointment fee should be seen by shop owners as a 'welcome opportunity not to serve the sort of bride who will almost certainly be traipsing all over the internet or gallivanting from shop to shop looking for the same dress at a reduced price.'

So where does the bride who doesn't have a huge budget go? Or the bride who cannot justify spending a small fortune on a bridal gown? Are traditional bridal retailers now picking who they sell to?

OR do you think that this is it just the natural way forward so that bridal shop retailers can cover the increasing costs and overheads that they have every month, costs that a home studio or online retailer do not necessarily have?
